Ummm...

I am going to point out something very incredibly stupid and irrelevant.

There is something I've recently come to noticed about cos-players. And this mostly deals with females, but I suppose males could be thrown in there too because I think it's something that everyone can and does get wrong. It deals with costuming.

Sort of.

I have seen some of the most horrible and wonderful cosplay costumes over the years. But with even the most excellent of costumes there is one part I've noticed that people almost always do wrong. And it's very tiny. So tiny in fact that you really won't notice it unless you know what you're looking for. Or maybe rather at.

It's the part in the hair.

See? Stupid. But let me continue on with my thought.

When dealing with side parts, most (if not all) of the characters that I've seen have their hair part on the left side of their head. Even when you can't really tell, it usually leans in such a way that insinuates a left side part. Most cosplayers however don't do this. Instead they will part it on the right. Or when dealing with wigs, they will go with what the wigmaker has done and not bother to fix it because they assume it is a side part and just having it be a side part makes it correct. This of course is incorrect.

There are exceptions to this though. People who are spastic about even the tiniest details (is there even anyone out there who cares about that detail?), and people who naturally part their hair on the side that the character they're playing as does.

And I'll post something about sakura con tomorrow when I get up. I spent most of my day today with leon, who I missed terribly while I was gone.

Wow, that is quite an eye for detail. Reminds me of my hardcore cosplayer friend. I was taking pics of her at Katsucon, and we had to redo a lot of them because she realized that the lower corner of her jacket was folded upward.

I'll try to avoid the wrong-side hair-parting thing if I do a cosplay this Friday.

:) Well, like I said, I don't think it matters too terribly much, after all, it IS just hair. It's just a little something I've noticed, and I really can't fault people for it.

And have fun at Katsucon!

Lol, sorry I was unclear there, Katsucon was back in Feb. (though I really wish I could go again!). Today was my school's activities fair for incoming freshman, so the anime club had a booth. I didn't do a cosplay this time but there's another activities fair next Friday so I'll have another chance. If not, I'm going to Connecticon this summer with my cousin; he's planning on going as a Combine from Half-life, and I'm going to be a headcrab zombie (lazy, easy cosplay, but it's my first time so I figured I'd pick a costume that I actually have a chance of being able to make).
