What luck!

Ani-Monday is showing Gurren Lagann. Rave Master too, but I have no interest in that. <.< >.> I thought it would have been further in with my luck, but nope. First episode. Awesomesauce! Reminds me of flcl. Now I just have to keep this up for the next 13.5 weeks. I miss having a dvr. But I can do this!

Or maybe I'll be able to get enough ahold of enough money before Sakura Con and I could buy it there. Then I could watch it all in one night. Haha. Who knows.

I'm really glad that fly_among_stars posted that video, otherwise it probably would have completely passed over my radar. *squeaks* This is great! :D

It's anime. I'm always freaky and happy when it comes to the good stuff. My drug of choice you could say. :)

1. You're welcome =).

2. Gurren Legann is one of the three shows we're watching right now in Princeton's anime club (along with Eureka 7 and Samurai Champloo), and I was also immediately reminded of FLCL, based on the hyperactive pace, rock-based soundtrack, and awesomely crazy animation. Without giving away any spoilers, I'll just say this: it gets pretty epic. (We're on episode 10 or so).

3. Rave master looks...interesting. Doesn't look like my kind of anime either, though.

4. Sakura-con, hadn't heard of it, would love to go but 2000 miles is a bit out of my travel range =(. I'll have to wait til Connecticon, this summer.

Going from the bottom up -

Sakura Con is seattles anime and japan fest. It's 10 years old now and apparently has really started to suck, according to the people who have been going since it's conception, since after 03. The owners and maintainers have started getting weird and are making it too family friendly or something. I however, don't know this first hand since this will be my first year going. I've wanted to go since about 2000, but have never had the opportunity until now. So I'm sure it will be awesome.

Rave master is complete and utter crap imo. I tried to watch it once before a looong time ago, was able to get through half of the first episode and was so disgusted I had to shut it off. I've seen it get nothing other than terrible reviews for the most part too.

How are you enjoying Samurai Champloo? :) One of my girlfriends calls it Samurai Shampoo for some reason. She sees the name and I guess that's what it translates into in her head. It's funny to hear when she does.

BOO to family friendliness at conventions! The weirdness is half the fun. Even so, I'm sure you'll have a great time, especially if this is your first anime convention. Last year's Connecticon was my first convention, and I had a blast, even though it's pretty small as conventions go. My only word of advice: bring a good camera with room for lots of pictures!

As for Rave Master, that'll be one show that I don't add to my very long list of shows to check out.

Samurai Shampoo (lol) is very good. I love the mix of hip-hop culture and ancient samurai history. I wouldn't say it's one of my favorite animes, because the format (so far) is more episodic rather than having a big over-arching story-line. But the animation is great, there are plenty of funny moments, awesome fight scenes, and some interesting serious themes too. Definitely worth checking out.
